Preservation Retirement Services. Get Retirement Ready

Helping You Build a Confident and Successful Future

We are Preservation Retirement Services.

Tim Schultz, NSSA®

Founder, President & Insurance Professional

As owner and founder of Preservation Retirement Services, Tim Schultz loves spending one-on-one time with clients to help create retirement income strategies designed to help them enjoy their retirement.

Tim was inspired to enter the industry by a disappointing venture into the stock market that followed his mother’s battle with breast cancer and death in 2008. After losing $80,000 of the $200,000 that his mom left him in life insurance, Tim became a Licensed Financial Professional to help others preserve what they have worked so hard to earn.

“Protection and consistency over risk and speculation” is Tim’s motto. He thrives to seek principally protected strategies for his clients to help handle possible market downturns.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa. Now living in the Cleveland area, he sometimes feels he is a Hawkeye trapped in a Buckeye world, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

He and his wife, Laura, have a daughter, Samantha, and a son, Caspian. They live in Westlake and are proud owners of three lovable-but-goofy dogs, Wally, Obie and Rosie, as well as a cat, Gimlet Marie.

In Tim’s free time, he loves spending time fishing, playing ping-pong, watching science fiction movies and being outside with his family. After losing his mother, he became a passionate advocate for breast cancer research and once rode a bike for 24 consecutive hours to raise money for the cause.

You only live once. Enjoy life every day because it’s a blessing, and never be afraid. It’s OK to be scared, but take on those fears and overcome them.

LAURA SCHULTZ

Wealth Advisor & Financial Professional, JD

As co-owner and wealth advisor of Preservation Retirement Services, Laura Schultz loves building relationships with her clients and uncovering what they want from their dream retirement. She enjoys helping clients understand and simplify their investment options, then implementing financial plans designed to bring their retirement goals into reach.

Before joining Preservation Retirement Services, Laura spent 12 years as a successful commercial litigation attorney at the Thompson Hine LLP law firm in Cleveland. During that time, she assisted bank and manufacturing clients with resolving contract disputes.

Laura was inspired to switch career paths after watching her husband, Tim, connect with clients and change their lives for the better by helping them plan and build successful retirements. She is particularly passionate about helping women feel financially stable and confident in their financial decision-making.

Laura has passed the Series 65 securities exam and is an Investment Adviser Representative. A former classical musician, Laura earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in flute performance from Western Illinois University. She also earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa.

Away from work, Laura is an avid home chef and sports fanatic, cheering on all University of Iowa and Cleveland teams. She also loves reading to her son, Caspian, and daughter, Samantha. Laura is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts and earned her Gold Award, the highest achievement possible. She continues to support Girl Scouts’ mission, serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. (Not to mention buying and eating a lot of cookies!)

CHARLI SKVASIK

Director of Marketing

With a genuine heart for people and personal connections, Charli likely will be the first smiling face you see when you attend a PRS Retirement Ready seminar. She cherishes opportunities to visit with clients and potential clients, follow up on appointments, coordinate events, and encourage others.

Before joining Preservation Retirement Services, Charli operated her own childcare center, Building Blocks Early Learning Center, for more than a decade. While she loved teaching and caring for children, Charli felt called to help people on a larger scale, and she knew PRS would provide that opportunity from the moment she met owners Tim and Laura Schultz.

“They are so genuine and sincerely interested in helping better their clients’ lives that I closed my business and jumped on board,” Charli says. “Now meeting with their clients, this business, in so many ways, feels like my childcare business in that we are all family.”

Charli graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree in interior design. She also is skilled in using social media to help inform people and connect them with the firm, so they can preserve their retirement.

A proud boy mom to Owen and William, Charli spends many of her weekends watching her sons compete on the soccer field or basketball court, and she loves hiking, kayaking, camping and doing other outdoor activities with them and their yellow Labrador Retriever, Hershel. Charli, a lifelong Clevelander, also enjoys sitting on a beach or around a campfire, creating low carb/keto recipes and coaching people on diabetic glucose.

Braised beef short ribs all day!

Dream vacation:
I currently have my sights set on Sedona, Arizona, but I've always wanted to visit Ireland and Greece.

Any hidden talents or interests?
I spent a couple years designing and building furniture and absolutely loved it! I worked with Urban Lumberjacks and A Piece of Cleveland, which reclaimed abandoned real estate in Cleveland. They supplied reclaimed lumber, and we designed and built beautiful furniture pieces with it. We even outfitted a few local Cleveland restaurants with our tables.

Best piece of advice you ever received:
People often operate from one of two places – love or fear. When we recognize this in people and ourselves, it's so much easier to forgive; show grace, acceptance and understanding to help them, and ourselves; and navigate anything that we're faced with. (Brené Brown).
